Men in Blue- The Story Behind the Blue Jersey

Posted 3 CommentsPosted in Infotainment

While watching news about the latest match fixtures and the betting bosses, and just gigging through some of the matches’ clips, a sudden thought rolled over my mind. Quite strange but true, I was really wandering about the color of the jersey of Indian Cricket Team.  (Although the hullabaloo is all about IPL matches where the color of the jerseys of the respective teams are quite known to all.)

The color that influenced the most prompted ad-gurus to think creatively and to broadcast love and passion for cricket among all cricketophilias during every tournament; when “they” were called “men in blue”. What exactly was the reason and motive behind the color of team India.

Blue- the color of inspiration, loyalty, responsibility, youth, desire, truth and peace; what the great scholars and noble men think about it. May be these good-good qualities have inspired the Indian Cricket Association to color their men in blue.

But ironically, the truth is something else. The noble blue men have justified the significance of this color in other way round. Definitely, unlike the true nature of the color blue, the players are clean-bowled by the daily IPL scandals that hit the screens of news channels and the front pages of the newspapers; and were over-ruled by the team owners, the chairman and other biggies involved in the scandals.

Unlike the true nature of “Blue” (loyalty, responsibility and truth); the sportsmanship was sold for betting, match-fixing and the most dramatic- the spot-fixing; and bowled over such a magnanimous game that ruled the televisions of every home for around three decades. So regretful, even the ideal cricketers and the innocent players are today ashamed of such imputations when we also witnessed the time when fans idolized Tendulkar- the master blaster and Dravid-the wall (when they were in the form).

The color Blue also brings the ability of a good communication while some astrologers recommend wearing this elegant color in any form. Yes, our team wore it and the jersey showed its mercy when very effectively, the captain cool- MS Dhoni denied to explain about the scandals in front of the Indian media but very cleverly justified his team in London and explained the media that people will still love cricket and believe in cricket. Like a slavish Srinivasan stooge, as if Dhoni is acting puppetry for him. And ironically, Srinivasan is also justifying the true nature of the color by upbringing his responsibility as a sincere father-in-law (please remember, not as a chairman but as a sluggish termite).

The intelligent way of spot-fixing by Sreesanth and Ankit Chavan displayed the blue-effect more powerfully as the color symbolizes for lust and desires. Definitely, they hardly care for the cup but for the cops when Chavan put all his very good attempts to get out of the bars to begin his blue journey (romantic/married life) and even succeeded too.

So, it’s all about the blue story, where, right from the jersey to the most imputed dictatorship of the game; the bluish effect overrules all. Like it or not, accept it or not; but the jersey reveals the true color of the Indian Cricket Team.

The one man behind Dil Chahta Hai, Lakshya, Don, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara; Farhan Akhtar is now running incessantly for his new venture namely “Bhaag Milkha Bhaag– a biopic depicting most famed Indian athlete Milkha Singh.
The Indian actor, director, producer, screen writer, lyricist and singer is on the limelight nowadays with his new muscular & hairy (Sikh) looks and most of all for the adopted attitude of the ‘Milkha Singh’. The official trailer of this movie is rolling all over India and people are much awaited for this racing roll to bash the theaters.  Interestingly, Farhan is receiving tremendous phone calls and best wishes for his upcoming film.
The most talked about movie starer Farhan Akhtar and Sonam Kapoor is gaining enormous fame among the teenagers, youngsters and sporty (athlete) beings. The film circumferences the struggling life of the gold medalist of Asian Games (in 1958 & 1962) who was known as ‘the flying Sikh’ in his ruling days. In an interview he has expressed his wish for India winning the Olympics Gold Medal which unfortunately he could not fetch in the Rome Olympics in 1960. The film is all about his emotions, dreams and the struggles behind the races.
The title of the movie has been inspired from the last sentence of his father to save his life from the riots during the partition of India. The emotional part is that Milkha Singh has taken only 1 rupee for contributing his story and also taught Farhan how to run on the tracks. Significantly, the needy athletes will be benefited from the remuneration of the film.
Above all, Farhan Akhtar has really worked hard for the chiseled look in this film. This time we can surely watch how he has focused much on his body and looks so he can totally portray the character in a much defined way. The topless scene to display his ripped body has really captivated too many attentions- an impressive result of 2 years of hard working. The body language and the appealing characterization by Farhan will be the best reasons to throng the public in the theaters.
The actor is expecting a boost for the athletes through his movie to fulfill Milkha Singh’s one and only wish of winning gold medal by India which is still running on his (Milkha’s) dream.
The actors are busy in shooting the movie in Delhi, Rajasthan and in some parts of Tokyo, Melbourne and Rome.
Directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, the film is ready to release on 12 July 2013. The lyricist of this much awaited movie is Prasoon Joshi and the band of Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy is hitting the tracks of “Bhaag Milkha Bhaag” with energetic compositions.
